History was written on Sunday as Atlético Miami II defeated USS 5-2 to become the inaugural champions of the UC League.
The final showcased everything that made Atlético Miami II the most dangerous team in the competition throughout the tournament: attacking quality, creativity, and relentless pressure.
The breakthrough came in the 20th minute when tournament star Lucio Alarcón opened the scoring after a beautiful assist from Brandon Camargo. Five minutes later, Alarcón turned provider, setting up Eduardo Milano to double the advantage.
Brandon Camargo added a third before halftime, giving Atlético a commanding lead and putting them firmly in control of the championship match.
USS showed tremendous character and fought their way back into the game with goals from Collins Atubrah and Anthony Agudelo, but Atlético Miami II always seemed to have another gear available.
Carlos Fernandez restored the three-goal cushion in the second half before Lucio Alarcón sealed the championship deep into stoppage time with his second goal of the evening.
When the final whistle sounded, players and supporters celebrated a historic achievement as Atlético Miami II became the first team ever to lift the UC Championship trophy.
The victory capped an outstanding tournament campaign and established Atlético Miami II as the first benchmark for success in the league’s history.
Man of the Match: Lucio Alarcón
The championship belonged to Lucio Alarcón. The forward scored twice, added an assist, and was directly involved in three of Atlético Miami II’s five goals. His performance in the final earned him Man of the Match honors.
As if that wasn’t enough, Alarcón also finished the tournament as the UC Golden Boot Winner, cementing his place as the standout player of the inaugural UC season.
